sccm sp2 upgrade - /testdbupgrade question
Hi, About to upgrade SCCM 2007 SP1 to SP2 and have seen alot of posts and checks (and read MS technet etc). I have 3 questions at this point: I have done a database copy of my production Central SErver DB to a test SQL2008 server. WHen running the "setup.exe /TESTDBUPGRADE <instance>\SMS_<Site_code>_new" this is done on the SQL server? there is nothing I have to do on the Central server? ie add a new server role and attach the central server to the test db? IS it best practice to run the testdbupgrade process on all databases ie Central and Primary ones? (copies of live) thanks

#1: you have to run testdbupgrade on the SQL server where the copy of the DB is located #2: no, /testdbupgrade is a SQL-only operation #3: yesTorsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

It's a test you run against the database and according to best practice you have to run it aginst each DB on every primary site. You always run it against a copy/backup never on the production DB. ou don't have to install a new role on any site server to perform the test.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund
