I created a query for All Domain Controllers per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/200972 I'm not getting anything when I import it into a collection and update the collection membership. I've tried removing the % from Domain_Controller in the value field, but that doesn't fix it. Clicking on the value button shows only LM_Workstation, LM_Server, NT LM_Workstation, LM_Server, NT, Potential_Browser There is no selectable value for domain controller. Why wouldn't a selction for domain controller show up in this list? If only some (as opposed to all) values are listed, where can I get a list of all values for each Attibute class, and attribute?

What if your collection query is based on System Resource - System OU name is equal to the Domain Controller container in AD? This would work if your domain controllers are all still in their default location.

Yes, they are listed in the all systems collection. If you rright click on of the domain controller object and goto properties, what are the details you can see over there. The Roles attribute in the ComputerSystem class is filled by the Configuration Manager agent after installing it; if the agent is not installed in the system, the attribute is empty, so any query involving it always fails. You need to deploy the agent on your domain controllers; then, you'll be able to filter on that attribute in order to automatically identify DCs. BTW, the query is correct; it finds my DCs (after having installed the agent on them).
