sccm installs xp sp 3 in a loop everytime the computer restarts
Hi i'm trying to run on my lab windows xp sp 3. i created a batch file swith the syntax: WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe /silent /norestart and saved it as:install.bat when i created the package i choose the option: configmgr restarts the computer. the package ran with no errors the computer rebooted, and when i logged on to one of my xp machines i saw in the execmgr.log that it fires up again the installtion. Please explain to me the reason it happends, the SP3 was installed (i saw that in the event veiwer and when i did winver). so why is it installing the service pack again, what am i missing. btw, in order to stop the installation i have to go to the task manager and end the update.exe process otherwise it'll install again and again...

why do you want to run it as a bat file? You can type the commandline directly into the program commandline.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Hi kent... you mean insted runnging from the command line, i'll edit the package and from the command line i'll run the program like this: WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe /silent /norestart and choose the option for configmr to restart the machine?

Why not use SUM to deploy SP3 to all of your clients, instead of this manual process?http://www.enhansoft.com/
