i have installed sccm 2007 and deployed a win 7 machine i tried to push install sccm client in the machine but the task sequence failed after installing the os...i tried to install it manually and the install was a success...but still the client in the console shows NO...the advertised programs are not been delivered to the new deployed machine....the firewall of both (the client and the sccm host) are off.....and there is no problem related to DNS...the sccm client is able to discover my sccm site code....but there is no co-ordination between the host and the client.....please help thanks.

take a look at the logs on th eclient c:\windows\system32\ccm\logs more specific · You'd want to start with the ClientLocation.log to validate that the client has been assigned to a site. · If so, then you can check the LocationServices.log to see if it has found a management point in the assigned site. · If so, then the ClientIDManagerStartup.log to validate that the client has registered in the site. · If so, then the Ccmexec.log to see if there are any WinHTTP errors. If so, those are communication errors with the management point.

I'm running into a similar situation right now but I think it's occuring because of overlapping Site Boundaries between the old SMS 2003 Site (still in Production) and the new SCCM 2007 Site (also in Prod) that we now have setup. In my case I've added just the IP of the client to the Site Boundaries of the new SCCM Site so it gets assigned there, but I can see in the logs that it is talking to the new site but I also see some references to the old site as well so I think it's kind of stuck in between. Any software I have targeted as part of my OS Deployment Task Sequence is getting installed but I can see from the Client Properties in Control Panel after the image is finished being laid down that the agent isn't fully enabled (shortened Actions list) and shows Client=NO in the console. I haven't done much further troubleshooting on this yet though due to knowing that I currently have overlapping boundaries between the hierarchies. If the client installs successfully but still shows Client=NO in the console then try updating your Collection Membership and perhaps force a Heartbeat Discovery from the client and then do a CollUpdate. Plus everything jeroenda said as well.

Hi pranay, If there is no communciation between server and client, check Management point status. 1. Check SMSts logs why it has failed deploying Windows 7 2. go to sccm server - go to system status and make sure there are no services are showing error. 3. if you see MP has errors, remove and reinstall MP. 4, Also make sure u have configured you boundaries and sccm admin account properly Thanks uday

hi jeroenda, i checked all the log files... ccmsetup.log - file does not show any error message. clientlocation.log - there is no error and the it's taking the proper site name. but there are errors in other log files which are :- locationservices.log - failed to update security setting over AD with error (0x80040215) failed to reset certificate request time (0x80041002) failed to retrieve version for the site 'sitename' (0x80004005) clientIDManagerstartup.log failed to send registration request message (0x8007000e) failed to send reg request message (0x80040231) ccmexec.log failed to get SID for configmgr remote control users (0x80070534) syatem task 'SMS SHA_startup' (0x80070005) these are the error message which i am getting, i dont know what these errors are or what are the settings to be made.....can you please short this out.... thanks.

I have discovered that there is a DNS or WINS problem. SCCM detects client = no on some systems which have DNS/WINS issues. I wrote a script which can locate computers which have conflicting names. I also discovered that SCCM might be discovering systems 2 times, once on the primary site and again on the secondary, I am verifying that. There could also be an issue with how the images are prepared and put on systems, at some point the system could be detected 2 times. Aside from that Clients wthat = no, can be repaired or explained otherwise. Michael
