sccm client install issue (uninstall and reinstall)
We have sccm 2007 installed and running. I am trying to roll out the client, and i have done a push install to a large batch of client computers. Inside the console, some of the computers state they have the client, some state they do not. On the computerts that state they do not have the client, if I go to them, I can see the ccm proccess running. If I try to do a push to the client again, using the "Always install (repair or upgrade existing client)" option, the console still says it doesn't see the client installed (which it actually is). BUT, if I go to the client, do a manual ccmsetup.exe /uninstall, and *them* reinstall the client, the installed client shows up in the console. What I want to know is, is there an easy way to get the console to see the client where I don't have to manuall uninstall the client from each individual computer.

On the client, open the Actions tab and see if you have more than just Machine Policy Refresh and Inventory. You can force the policy refresh and then refresh the console to see if data is coming in. I would start by looking at the logs on the client to make sure it is registering correctly with the MP. Also make sure the Site code is popuplated.http://www.sccm-tools.com http://sms-hints-tricks.blogspot.com

The client might take a bit of time to send a heartbeat discovery to the site server. Once the site server recieves the heartbeat discover from the client, the column "client" will change from no to yes. Just to be careful, at the client that appears "no" in the admin UI, can you check the ccmexec.log (for client communication for the MP), locationservices.log (for MP location), clientidmanagerstartup.log (for client registration with the site) to see whether you find any error? Thanks,Minh.Minh

Have you tried simply restarting the CCMExec service? I've seen problems before where the client doesn't function correctly after an install but restarting the service kick starts it.SCCMAdmins.com

You need to check the ccmsetup.log file while performing the install/uninstall. It must contain some information that you can use.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

What I want to know is, is there an easy way to get the console to see the client where I don't have to manuall uninstall the client from each individual computer. Yes… If you enabled FSP role, then you can track such issues. Did you configure your Client push parameters with FSP Also? SMSSITECODE=CEN fsp=FSPSErverFQDN You can look at the log file called CCM.log for Client Push. From FSP point of view you can view a Report Name called (Hope 198 is the ID): Client Deployment Failure Report is available. More information on FSP can be found at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb694178.aspxSCCM This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. |Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
