sccm can't install MP
What ever I do I can't seem to install a management point on my new sccm server, this is the error which I appologize is pretty general. SMS Site Component Manager failed to install this component on this site system. Solution: Review the previous status messages to determine the exact reason for the failure. SMS Site Component Manager will automatically retry the installation in 60 minutes. To force SMS Site Component Manager to immediately retry the installation, stop and restart SMS Site Component Manager using the SMS Service Manager. SMS Site Component Manager failed to install this component, because the Microsoft Installer File for this component (MP.msi) could not install. Refer to the MPSetup.log, the MPMSI.log, as well as the SMS documentation and the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further information. This one has been bugging me all day

Have you checked the mpmsi.log as suggested in this message? Actually there will be a couple logs that may help. Off the top of my head I think they are mpsetup and mpmsi.log on the target server. Post anything you see in there. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |

Is the server 2008 or 2008 R2? If so, did you follow the guide on Technet for correctly installing the pre-reqs? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc431377.aspxJason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

I figured out what was going on, I cloned a machine to create the sccm server, and there was a sccm client that was hosing everything, I uninstalled the old sccm client and reinstalled the MP and everything went fine, thanks for the posts guys!!!!
