sccm 2007 client installation
Hello. SCCM 2007 R2 SP2. Client Push installation. due to network bandwidth limitation a GPO sets limits on the BITS download (20 kbps office hours, 40 kbps other time), so the installation takes time. very often an entire working day is not enough for the downloading of the client components, so the workstation is switched off. when it is switched on again, the components download restart from the very beginning. this is a very strange behavior. I tried to stop/start BITS service during download, as well as unplug/plug the network cable, the download restarts rightly and exactly from the point where it left. the problem seems related to the ccmsetup service. would someone be so kind to point me to a log or something to understand what's going on? when the workstation is turned off in the ccmsetup.log I can only find these lines Successfully completed BITS download for client deployment files. ccmsetup 19/07/2010 14.15.30 1232 (0x04D0) Successfully downloaded client files via BITS. ccmsetup 19/07/2010 14.15.37 1232 (0x04D0) Shutdown has been requested ccmsetup 19/07/2010 14.15.37 1232 (0x04D0) Sending Fallback Status Point message, STATEID='301'. ccmsetup 19/07/2010 14.15.38 476 (0x01DC) State message with TopicType 800 and TopicId {D171759C-55C0-40FF-8BEE-1157C1E4F6B3} has been sent to the FSP FSPStateMessage 19/07/2010 14.15.44 476 (0x01DC) and the day after, as soon as the workstation is switched on again, ==========[ ccmsetup started in process 488 ]========== ccmsetup 20/07/2010 7.31.16 492 (0x01EC) Version: 4.0.6487.2000 ccmsetup 20/07/2010 7.31.16 492 (0x01EC) Command line parameters for ccmsetup have been specified. I agree, there is no error, but the download is restarting from the very beginning. is it right? if so, since many workstations are on only six-seven hours per day, I won't be able to have the client installed.

Hope following informaiton can help you: The length of time it takes to download and install will vary depending upon "Network Connection" in boundary settings When "Network Connection" is set to "Slow or unreliable" each 597598 increment takes exactly 5 minutes to download When "Network Connection" is set to "Fast" the BITS download is immediate. Please look for any site boundaries having the word "Slow" in the connection column. Open properties and change the connection to "Fast" (if this is appropriate for the boundary). Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. thanks for your answer. Probably I didn't explain properly my problem, since it isn't a matter of how log it takes to download the client. all of my boundaries are labeled as fast. I would like to understand if the behavior I find is a correct one. if I restart a computer pending a client components download, the download should restart from where it has been left. at least this is a cornerstone for every package in SMS/SCCM. is it not the same form ccmsetup? thanks

Microsoft has confirmed this behavior is a bug, which will be managed in v.Next. Thanks for your help
