sccm 2007 R2 central site server - sms exec.exe*32 process taking up 100% CPU
For the last 3 days the Configuration Manager console on the central site server has been crashing ever so often.
this morning I have realised that the CPU usage is 100% and smsexec.exe*32 process is taking up 99% of that.
has anyone come across this issue and if so what are the things that I need to check?

thanks Torsten for the links. I am running perfmon to find out which SMS_Executive thread is causing the issue. Will let you know how it goes.

It is also worth reviewing the list of post SP2 hotfixes as many address performance issues. I don't know of one with the specific symptoms you described, but others may help this issue:
