When you save the template check the box to include content and then remove content you don't want after it's moved.Kris Wagner, MVP, MCITP, MCTS Twitter @sharepointkris Blog: http://www.sharepointkris.com/blog

Hi, According to your description, when you select Create a version each time you edit an item in this list? to true, it displays the result of any previous versions. Some developer came across this similar thread. I suggest that you should check step by step in accordance with this blog: http://www.sharepointkings.com/2008/09/working-with-versions-in-list.html Best regards David Hu

Kris, I checked “include content” option, when I save list as a template, But in destination site, I only can see last version of each item in my list. I think “save as a template” operation can’t contain all version of my list, isn’t is? David, You mean there is not another way to have versioning, except by coding? I read this article, but it’s explain how I can obtain versions of list, after I get all versions of list, how I can introduce them to destination site and how I can related them to my desired list? Anyway I save my list as a template with content, why in destination site(when created list based on template) I have not all versions of my list? is this a bug with sharepoint?

use STSADM and use the following command line, replace with your URL and/variables. Source: The STSADM tool lives in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Bin\" C:\stsadm.exe -o export -url http://sharepointname/Lists/mylist -filename c:\mylist.bak -version 4 Target: C:\stsadm.exe -o import -url http://newspserver/Lists/newlist -filename c:\mylist.bak Notes: If your url has a space(s) like http://newserver/lists/My Super List you'll want to wrap the url in quotes like this stsadm.exe -o export -url "http://sharepointname/Lists/My Super List" -filename c:\mylist.bak -version 4 Please reportback.
