run advertisement using normal user rights
Hi, I am trying to install and application which needs logged on user environment. The user don't have administrative rights on the computer. As CCM Cache directory has no permission to normal user so when the program it fails with unable to execute the script as no permissions are there on the cache folder. Please help how to get this done. Irshadirshadahmed

If the adv requires that only the user running the app to install then you must elevate the user, install the app then demote the user and make sure the app still runs. There is no other way around that other than running the install via SCCM as the adminand then running a post script that adds reg entries, changes security permissions on the folder for the "current logged in user".User filemon and Reg mon to see where the entries are made and make sure the current user can access those areas. What application is this? Have you checked www.appdeploy.com to see if they have how to get the application installed?http://www.sccm-tools.com http://sms-hints-tricks.blogspot.com

Hey, The application which i wanna install does not requires admin rights. The only reason why we are doing this via SCCM is that we have to install this on around 500 Computers. So i have created the package and rolled out the application using SCCM. If the normal user have rights on CCM\cache directory (which he does not have) then the application succesfully installs. But as there are no perms on cache directory so the application fails. Should i provide rights on ccm directory to everyone ? Please reply. Irshadirshadahmed

User shouldn't need any rights to the Cache, everything should be handled by ConfigMgr. You simply need to run the installer. If the installer is attempting to change the files in the folder or permissions then it will fail. Programs normally wait until they are in the destination folder before modifying them. May I ask what the application is?What error are you receiving? Is it an MSI or EXE that you can generate a log file?http://www.sccm-tools.com http://sms-hints-tricks.blogspot.com
