reporting within sharepoint?

Hello,

i want to use sharepoint as some kind of a reporting system

somebody is typing some text, press enter and all is going into a database or so
Other people are able to see the text but it's not possible to change it anymore

Does anyone know if this is possible? (bear in mind, i'm not a guru)

thanks in advance

You can do this with a standard list.  For example, you can give certain users Contribute rights to the list, who are able to add items, and other users Read rights, who can only view items.

You can also give users Contribute rights, then under List Settings -> Advanced Settings, only allow them to edit their own items (this prevents other Contributors from editing other user's items).

Thank you Trevor,

I think that would not do the trick
It is very close dough

I want user A to enter his remarks in a textfield, after submitting the text may not be changed anymore by anyone
Than user A or B would be able to read the textfield

This probably is possible in MS Access, but i'd rather do it right away in SharePoint
At this moment i'm using excel for reporting, but with 10 users it becomes highly unreliable (all are working under the same windows account)

Thanks for your help

HI Gillio,

Please try the below method,

  1. Create a new permission level called 'CreateOnly' with only 'Create' and 'Read' access by following this link http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/sharepoint-server-help/edit-create-and-delete-permission-levels-HA101805381.aspx
  2. Create a new usergroup and add the users who can insert new items into the list. In your case, it is userA
  3. Break the role inheritance of your list, then add your new group and provide 'CreateOnly' permission

Hope that helps.

This might actually work Kalai,

One more question so far
When adding a new line in a list, this always is on the bottom of the sheet
In descending order i would like to have the empty new field on top of the list
