report rendering using direct URL access
Hi All, In SSRS native mode, when we use a direct URL access to open a report in browser, does it uses the Report Viewer control? How is this rendering different when we view a report by proving a report path within Report viewer. Thanks, Sumanta

Hi Sumanta, When we access a report via the direct URL in a browser, the report is opened in HTML Viewer not ReportViewer control. The ReportViewer control is used only when we need to display an embedded report in a custom application. The ReporViewer control provides the capability for viewing reports that have been deployed to a report server (remote processing mode) as well as the ability to render reports that exist in an environment where a report server has not been installed (local processing mode). In remote processing mode, the report server processes the data and renders the report into an output format. The ReportViewer control is used as a viewer to render a report. In local processing mode, all report processing is performed on the computer that hosts the application and all data used by the report must be provided by the host application. We can create a client report definition (.rdlc) file to use within the ReportViewer control. When we use reportviewer controls in Web Forms, reports are rendered in HTML viewer too. When we use reportviewer controls in Windows Forms, reports are rendered in Graphics Design Instrumentation (GDI).
