problem with renaming documents on WSS3.0
Hi, currently we've got a problem with renaming documents in a WSS DocumentLibrary. We've seen this on SP1 and SP2 of WSS 3.0. Current situation: WSS 3.0 (SP2) site with a document library with the following settings: Content Approval: No No Versioning Require Check Out: Yes 2 Documents in the document library: New Wordpad Document New Wordpad Document 1 Screenshot: http://imgur.com/IgdKB.png Action: Step 1 Edit Properties of “New Wordpad Document 1” Message: Will Checkout: Yes Change Name into “New Wordpad Document” Screenshot: http://imgur.com/EEP6z.png OK See this error: “The specified name is already in use. A document cannot have the same name as another document or folder in this document library or folder. Click your browser’s Back button, and type a new name.“ (Expected) Screenshot: http://imgur.com/AgeDQ.png Step 2 Pressed back on browser Changed name back to “New Wordpad Document 1” OK Expected error: The file Doclib/New Wordpad Document 1 has been modified by ‘username’ Go back to the document library and see the “New Wordpad Document 1” has been checked out. Next we do the same steps, except we change the name to “New Wordpad Document 2” at step 2 When we press OK, we’ve got the following message again Screenshot: http://imgur.com/kYsXR.png The file Doclib/New Wordpad Document 1 has been modified by ‘username’ Go back to the document library and see the “New Wordpad Document 1” has been checked out. There is no “New Wordpad Document 2” This is unexpected, what we want is that the “New Wordpad Document 1” is renamed to “New Wordpad Document 2” What is the right solution for this? Thanks in Advance, Robbert
