populate cascading lookups by selecting the value at the bottom of the list

Hello there,

I have implemented a reasonable solution to a 4 level cascading drop down lookup problem using the javascript based solution here.  This solution means I have 5 lists, each looks up to a parent with a lookup field.  The child list new and edit forms filter drop down selections using JavaScript in a CEWP.

Problem is, my users don't know the taxonomy at levels 1,2 and 3 and just want to select option 4. You can't do that because you have to select values above to see selections at level 4.

What I want to do is have level 4 as a simple lookup, unfiltered.  Then I want levels 1, 2 and 3 to populate based on values in the level 4 lookup table (which contains lookups to the other 3 tables).

So I want to get the parent hierarchy from the child lookup field (level 4 lookup table).

Level 4 lookup table looks like this:

So can you think of any way I can achieve that?  We are using SharePoint 2010, and I can use SharePoint designer if necessary.

I am not a developer, but still pretty handy with SharePoint.

Thank you very much for any advice or assistance you can provide.
