I has a problem with the EXT AD.  The user profile service syncs the EXT with the user and user details. But I cannot choice on user from the EXT AD in a site collection. The sync timer jobs are all running fine.

What can I do to choice a EXT AD user in a site collection (to give them permissions)?

What kind of trust exists between your (I'm assuming internal) AD and EXT AD? You'll need a two way or one way trust.

Further more, if it's a one-way trust you'll need to configure the people picker to connect to the EXT Ad.

Which version of SharePoint? Based on this forum I'm assuming SharePoint 2007. See Peoplepicker: Stsadm properties (Office SharePoint Server) -- the searchadforests property. There are other threads in these forums that detail the specific configurations. The procedure is the same for SharePoint 2010 and 2013.

There is a one-way trust form the EXT AD to the internal AD. We use SharePoint 2007.
