multiple domain forests
Hello,I need to know if it is possible for FIM to handle more than onedomain forest. E.g. I have one domain fabrikam.com and portal is a member of this domain. In future there will be a new domain forest abc.com and I establisha cross forest trust between them. Is it possible to allow access to users from abc.com domain to the portal and assign them some approval process.Thanks.

It seems intended to do so. There are domain and forest configuration objects in FIM, so it seems capable of managing users from multiple forests. Authentication to the Portal is handled through AD, by way of SharePoint and then it validates your user SID against the person object in the FIM Service database.David Lundell www.ilmBestPractices.com

Has anyone actually done this? I cannot find any documentation on this. If I have X managed forest/domains and I want to be able to choose which domains I create user in. Simply creating a user in all managed domains is not an option. I appreciate any guidance or expereince anyone may have. Thanks in advanced.

Figured it out with some help from Craig M. Create "Forest Configuration" first because in order to create a "Domain Configuration" a Forest Configration is required. I don't pretend to uderstand but maybe when the RTM docs come it will shed some light on it.

I have found since RTM the installation notes on Technet are constantly being changed/updated to older hard copies I printed back in February. Of course when they are updated none of us know, as there is no version history published, nor announcements made here.
