msmdpump.ll configuation error on server

Hi,

I tried configuring msmdpump on a server that uses IIS8 to be able to query an ssas cube and I get the following error.

"The following system error occurred:  No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.  (Unknown)"

I made sure the firewall was not blocking and also checked for  TCP/IP settings. Also on the sql server configuration manager, the tabular instance of sql server analysis services , the logon has been changed to account name and tested it. Still it doesn't work. Also on the  IIS configuration, enabled windows authentication .

Please Help.

Hi gsiripurapu,

According to your description, you get the connection refused error when configuring HTTP Access to Analysis Services on IIS 8.0. Right?

On IIS, MSMDPUMP connects to Analysis Services using the Analysis Services OLE DB provider over TCP/IP. If your IIS and SSAS are on different server, you must have Analysis Services OLE DB provider installed on the web server. Check if there's port blocking and make sure the client application runs in a network environment that allows HTTP but not TCP/IP connections. Please follow the link below to see if you have any step missing:

Configure HTTP Access to Analysis Services on Internet Information Services (IIS) 8.0

Also it has reported issues when connecting a named SSAS instance using IP v6, please see an KB article below:
