mpverify fails validation of standard existing management packs
I imported the mp Microsoft.Linux.RHEL.5.mp into Ops Mgr 2007. It said that I should have my dependencies resolved and suggested that I import Microsoft.Linux.Library and Micorsoft.Linux.RedHat.Library and the import proceeded fine. I just exported the Microsoft.Linux.RHEL.5.mp to an xml file. Now I used the mpverify.exe tool to validate it. It fails with the following error messages: C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager 2007>MPVerify.exe /I "C:\Progr am Files\System Center MP Authoring Console 2007\MP Schema" "C:\Microsoft.Linux. RHEL.5.xml Loading management pack file: C:\Microsoft.Linux.RHEL.5.xml Running verification tests for MP: Microsoft.Linux.RHEL.5 : Verification failed with [2] errors: ------------------------------------------------------- Error 1: : Could not load ManagementPack [ID=Microsoft.Linux.Library, Keytoken=31bf3856ad 364e35, Version=6.1.7000.248]. Hi, I am not sure what you are trying to do here. To use the RHEL 5 MP you will need to also import the Linux Library and Linux Red Hat MPs. The RHEL 5 MP have dependency on the other two MPs. You can import them on the same time as you import the RHEL 5 MP. -- Anders BengtssonMicrosoft MVP - Ops Mgrwww.contoso.se

Hi Anders, Thank you very much for your reply. I am trying to get a starting point for the changes I am going to do on RHEL 5 mp. 1. As you said I imported all the three mps successfully. 2. Now, I tried to do an export to an .xml file. I was also successful in doing it. This xml file I am using as an basis for all the changes I am going to make. The exported xml file (even in unmodified form) fails verification. I am wondering why it fails ? I hope I am clear this time. Please help me understand what is going wrong in this process. Thanks again. Ragu

Hi, So you have imported the MPs ok, and now you want to export them and modify them to do something else? I would not recommend that way. Instead author a new MP for your x plat machines. there is guides for that at MSFT webpage, under ops mgr section. -- Anders BengtssonMicrosoft MVP - Ops Mgrwww.contoso.se
