move branch distribution point role to new server
Hello all, I am currently about to move branch DP roles to new servers in some of our sites. Meaning that for site XY the branch DP will be removed from server A and enabled on server B (same boundaries) System is SCCM 2007 SP1 with multiple sites. Here is how I did it in the past: 1) Copied SMSPKG<driveletter >$ directory to the new server. 2) changed the branch DP in the SCCM console to the new server. 3) re-distributed all previously installed software packages to the new server at the SCCM console. This saved me bandwidth as the branch DP discovered that all the packages existed and desisted from transferring them again over the WAN as soon as I re-added them. It left me with many manual steps, though, as I had to re-distribute all packages by hand. And thats the big downside with this procedure. My question now is: Is there any more convenient option to transfer all already existing packages to the new server? Merely the records in the SCCM console as the files itself can easily be copied. Thanks for your help in advance, Chris

Hello Unmansson, and many thanks for your quick reply. Sorry that I forgot to mention that I already followed the steps in the mentioned link. Actually this brought me to Item 1 of my described procedere :-) Unfortunately it did not update the records in the SCCM console and therefore did not save me the manual re-distribute steps. (Item 3) Any hints are appreciated, best regards, Chris
