lookup item that is a URL
When I try to create a lookup field in one list that points to a field that is a URL, I don't have that choice in the drop-down box. Why is that? mhoran

Hi Mhoran, from your description it looks like you are using Hyperlink category in source list and trying to pull data for that column in destination lis. Make sure Look up column does not show data if its hyperlink category, rather than it use single line of text which will definitely show up in destination look up column. There are some by default features and most of the time only single line of text columns are available in look up column.Warm Regards, Pratik Vyas | SharePoint Consultant | http://sharepointpratik.blogspot.com/ | Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights

thanks. I am trying that, but it's not working or I'm not understanding you correctly. I set it up as a simple text item and I was hoping to display it as a link, not the actual address. Unless I can try to put in some html to make it show up as one.. mhoran

Hi mhoran, If the column is hyperlink type, it can’t as the lookup column. So, when you use single line of text, you can as it lookup column. If you want add some hyperlink to the text, you use other ways. You can add url to SharePoint field of a SharePoint column. You can refer to the following link. http://patrikluca.blogspot.com/2009/04/add-url-to-description-of-sharepoint.html Thanks, Jack
