list template doesn't appear in sub sites

hello ,

I created a list template from document library in a sub site , but when I try to create any new document library in any sub site using the saved template >  I cannot see the template in the libraries list in the "create" page ,  I can see it only if I try to create the document library in the parent site ( root site collection ), any ideas why this happens and how to make the saved list templates available for use in any sub site  ?

Note : SharePoint version is MOSS 2007 Enterprise

Hi,

Just make sure whether you did the following step: Go the site action button and click site settings and go to the top level site and then click on the list templates then upload your template in that particular section and try to create the document library form the saved template.

Hi,

According to your description of the problem, the issue you are experiencing may be caused by permissions. Maybe You should pay attention to those as followed:

1. List templates are stored in a gallery list at the Site Collection level;

2. Users creating new items must have Read access to the gallery list;

3. Users that have been given access to a Site Collection at a site lower than the root will not see the List Template Gallery items (as they do not have Read access);

4. If you have been given access to a site that is 3 levels deep in the site collection ,you would not have read access to the List Template Gallery at the root level;

5. Give users that will create document libraries (or lists) using custom templates Read access to the List Template Gallery at the root level of the site collection.

Regards,

Cindy

the list template is already uploaded to the list gallery at the root site collection level , and I'm site collection admin ( I'm trying with my account ) , and I'm trying on a one level deep sub site  :)

Note : when I manually activated "Office Sharepoint Enterprise features" feature on the sub site >>> I can see the list now but of course with other list templates I don't need

any ideas ?

Issue: List template is not showing up on sub sites.

solution: Try enabling Team Colloboration List feature in the subsite from site settings=>Manage site features
