Is there a way to send a document in a SP library as an attachment to an email when the SP site is an internal intranet site and the email is going to an external client?

the email would not be sent from within SharePoint, but the attachment would come from a document library within SharePoint.

open the document from Sharepoint, do a file|send|page by email.
