intermittent DP problems

I am busy building a new SCCM 2012 SP1 infrastructure for a customer.  the primary siteserver (Server 2008 R2 SP1 with SQL on same box 2008 R2 SP2 CU3 16GB RAM and 4 vCPU) has been installed and works well.

I have started the installation of remote distribution points (most of them are on a server 2008 R2 SP1 DC - I know this is not recommended, but hey I got it to work in other projects as well..)

distribution of content (packages / applications / software update packages) is not working consistently. it works fine only on the primary server itself, but not Always on the other DPs.

all servers in this environment are running Symantec endpoint protection v 12.1.1101.401, not my choice ...

I created a DP group with the three current DPs in it, and a boundary also for each DP based on IP range.  the installation of the extra DPs went well, the distribution of the client package also. but there it stops...

the primary siteserver computer account was added to the domain admins group so security on the remote DPs should not be an issue

so far I tried this:

- define a network access account (nok)

- enable NAL logging on the primary server: I don't see extra info coming in distmgr.log?

- set all Symantec services to disabled (via registry) & reboot: nok

- disable Symantec on the remote DP as well: nok

- wireshark trace: unclear to me what might be the cause

- added the needed sccm exclusions manually on the primary siteserver: nok

I must admit that earlier today both test applications I had already defined where all of a sudden published on the two extra DPs, but don't seem to find the reason why.  since then it refuses again to work!

as for the logging, I do not see anything special in distmgr.log, but pkgxfermgr.log does Always mention: 'failed to update package' and ccontentdefinition: getfileproperties failed 0x80070003 and csendfileaction sendfiles failed: 0x80070003 to end with sending failed ...

on the remote DP I do not get anything in the smsdpprov.log, except when occasionally some content does get published...

Originally I was convinced the blame should be with SEP, but now I'm not that sure anymore

anyways, I would like some help here, this is causing me already a day and a half of backlog in my project...

I have a copy of all logfiles, should you require more info

I just tested in my lab environment whether having a DC in SP1 as a DP was still working or not, and indeed it is

during the configuration of the remote DPs at the customer, I did not enable the new 'pull dp' thing

that leaves me to the option of examining whether the NIC teaming on those DPs might be the problem..

still no answer..

today I experimented further because I noticed we get the same 80070003 (path not found) when:

-creating standalone media

-creating prestaged content

-distributing the boot images

-doing offline image servicing

so, something is terribly wrong!

I have removed and reinstalled the DP on the primary siteserver, didn't work

I will look a last tomorrow with process monitor hoping to find what 'path' cannot be found

I have advised the customer to open a case, because right now I'm banging my head against the wall !

tried again some things yesterday:

-reinstall the Management Point

-looked and found an IIS error in the logs: 401.2.5 and solved this with a workaround (put the apppool SMS distribution points on classic and turned on anonymous access on the default website

-turned on the option 'allow clients to connect anonymously' on all dps

-installed patch 2522623 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2522623/nl?wa=wsignin1.0
-disabled all non OS incoming firewall rules

-compared the registry HKLM\software\microsoft\sms with the one of my demo environment

Yes, I know this is an old post, but Im trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?

Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) as they can work with you to solve this problem.
