install ssis
When I open up Visual Studio 2008 and create a new SSIS package it says: Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document: To design Integration Services packages in Business Intelligence Develop Studio Integration Services has to be installed by one of these editions of SQL Server 2008 R2: Standard, Enterprise, Developer or Evaluation. To install Integration Services, run SQL Server Setup and select Integration Services. Ok, so I have tried installing features to an existing instance of SQL Server 2008 R2 and whenever I hit the add a feature to SQL server install screen Integration Services is already checked under shared features. However, it's not running as a service and I don't know how to install/add it to a running install. What do I need to do here? Reinstall everything? Thanks, Phil

Not sure if I understand you, if the feature is already selected, can't you just hit the "next" button and install the feature(Integration Services)?

To design Integration Services packages in Business Intelligence Develop Studio Integration Services has to be installed by one of these editions of SQL Server 2008 R2: Standard, Enterprise, Developer or Evaluation. The cause of your problems is not that SSIS is not installed, it's that you can't use Visual Studio 2008 to create SSIS packages for SQL Server 2008 R2. You will need to us SQL Server 2008 R2 Business Intelligence Development Studio.Jeff Wharton MSysDev (C.Sturt), MDbDsgnMgt (C.Sturt) MCT, MCPD, MCITP, MCDBA Blog: MrWharty.wordpress.com
