import an image from SCCM to MDT 2010
Hi guys, I have a Windows 7 image in SCCM used for bare-metal deployments. Now I need to build a DR OS deployment solution so I thought to use MDT 2010 and the existing image combined with task sequences that would install all necessary drivers and apps. Is it possible to import an image from SCCM to MDT, like from WDS to MDT? Thanks Zoran

WIM files created with MDT can be used by ConfigMgr, So I assume the other way around will work as well. Although what are the requirements for DR, maybe you can upgrade your ConfigMgr environment to create some kind of HA with clustering, multiple DPs and NLB MPs. Or install a seperate Primary site in a DR site and make it a child. With MDT as the DR site you will have to maintain two seperate solutions which result in administration overhead. Keep in mind that you will have to recreate the TS as well in MDT and maintain that one in both environments. Follow me through my blog and Twitter!

I concur with Jannes: a WIM is a WIM is a WIM; however you're doubling your workload because although the task sequencer itself is the same for both, you can't directly copy the task sequences from one to the other and both handle drivers a bit differently.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

Hi Jannes, That's a great idea, I will go with another primary site and configure it as a child. Hi Jason, You're right. I wasn't aware that I could have another sccm dp fully independent from the main server and simply replicate everything. Thanks a lot guys Zoran
