how to make reports available to external users?
Out of box, does SSRS make the reports available to external users through a web application? for example, someone logs in (e.g., by form-authentication) to the web application, and he can view the reports for him, run them, subscribes them, search them, .... Thanks,

Hi Guangming, Generally, we can use Report Manager to perform those tasks that you mentioned. From your description, do you mean you need to allow the external users who are not in the same domain to access the Report Manager? If so, you can assign a domain account for external users, then they can use the account to access the Report Manager. If I have misunderstood, please point out and elaborate your requirement briefly. Best Regards, Bin Long

To view/run reports you can a have a local user group and grant it access to SSRS ...Then as mentioned you can set you permissions via RMBest Regards, Uri Dimant SQL Server MVP http://dimantdatabasesolutions.blogspot.com/ http://sqlblog.com/blogs/uri_dimant/

Seems there are two ways for external users to access reports: Add them to a local user group in the domain and manage their permissions in Report Manager Implement a custom security extension to do form-based authentication wondering which is better in terms of maintainence, security, user acceptance, ...? Any comments/recommendation from some real implementations would be very helpful.
