Hi, can i deploy reporting services rdl files into different folders in RS? will it be able to create the folders by itself or do i need to create them beforehand? thanks for any answers. - HY

We set up multiple configurations (such as Dev, QA, UAT, Production) in VS allowing us to specify the server and folder that the RDL files were deployed to. Go to Project -> Properties to specify the targets - there's a button for configuration manager there as well to add multiple configurations. Scott

If you're talking about deploying directly from visual studio then you specify the target folder for deployment from the project properties. You can't set up a folder structure within a reporting services project. To deploy reports to specific folders you can connect through management studio or the report manager web inteface and do it manually.

Alternative: Create several proyects in the solution, each proyect for diferent folder on the report server. if you have a folder named "services" and two subfolders "names" and "subreports" you can do this: -Solution: "My solution" --- Proyect 1:"Reports services - names" target report folder: Services/names --- Proyect 2: "Reports services - subreports" target report folder: Services/subreports and when youdeploy the report as you need, it will be in the folder you want. sorry: my native language is spanish.

The easiest way to create (sub)folders for each department ( Accounting, Sales, finance etc) is to create a project/solution, then to add (sub)folders by creating a new project and then chosing add to solution option. That easy. Then you can create reports per sub folder and deploy each subfolder. works for me.
