how to delete package reference from distribution point SCCM 2012

We have deleted packages from DPs with no issues, when we first delete remove content from DPs then delete packages.

some team members deleted a package\application from SCCM, now the DPs keep showing waiting for package or waiting for content.

I do not believe they checked to see status on DPs first.

How can we delete this job from that DP that is still waiting for co

Deleting a package/application should also remove it from all DPs. Examine distmgr.log; it might retry it 100 (default setting) times before giving up.

these packages have been removed for over three months now.

there are no more references to these packages in the distmgr.log now and also awhile back when we first notice this behavior.  please advise further.

So where do you still see references to those old packages?

in the distribution point configfuration status section in monitoring.

Hi,

now the DPs keep showing waiting for package or waiting for content

Do you mean that the status messages about that package still appear repeatedly now?

If so, distmgr.log should record some information about the package.

Best Regards,

Joyce Li

if you go to the distribution configuration status, click on the dp and look through all the entries.   Look for the ones without the green check mark.   See if it shows a package it's referring to.

You have content validation set on the dp and have it running on a certain day?  Might set it to run this evening.

Of course at worst.. just remove the dp role and recreate.

appreciate both comments.

the package can be seen with number and all.

the packages was deleted prior to removing the dps from the package content locations, there by they are listed in the detail status for the dp in the monitoring section for months so far and they do not delete.

want to find where we have to go to remove this entry from any longer showing up in the status.

sample entry below:

8/13/2013 6:59:00 PM Waiting for content Distribution Manager successfully processed package "eCopy Desktop 9.2" (package ID = P0100069). In Progress P0100069 "

this package was removed months ago and still appears.  to me it is cosmetic, since i know what it means, but we still have to answer those who monitor us as to why it is still showing up in the status.

Do we have any update on this. I believe this is a direct result of deleting a package before it removed from a DP. I have a package that is doing the same thing. It is trying to distribute to a dp but no longer exists.

No, because deleting a package will remove it from all DPs automatically.
