how to clean unexisting sites, wss 2.0
I ran stsadm -o enumsites -url for my virtual servers and it seems that it finds some unexisting sites for each: <Sites Count="5"> <Site Error="The Web site that is referenced here is not in the configuration database." /> <Site Error="The Web site that is referenced here is not in the configuration database." /> <Site Error="The Web site that is referenced here is not in the configuration database." /> <Site Error="The Web site that is referenced here is not in the configuration database." /> <Site Url="http://abc.somesite.com" Owner="owner" /> </Sites> So as you can see i have only one site, and thats the way it should be (same is in config DB it shows only existing ones), but it doesn't report that, it shows 4 more. Any thoughts? Kind regards, Dusan Tomic

Hi, it seems that you have some orphan sites in your content database. Try detach-reattaching the content database/databases in which these If the version of MOSS you are using is below SP2 then make sure you use "preparetomove" before detaching the database. -Once this command is run successfully use "deletecontentdb" and "addcontentdb" STSADM commands to detach-attaching the databases or from Central Admin -> Content databases Hope this helps.

Hi mate, I finally made some time to finish this project, and one quetion: If i detach content database, when i do the attach will I be able to use same DB, and will all the data remain? I will use this tutorial: To remove and then reattach the content database or content databases on the virtual server, follow these steps: Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click SharePoint Central Administration. Under Virtual Server Configuration on the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Central Administration page, click Configure virtual server settings. Click the virtual server that you want to configure, and then click Manage content databases under Virtual Server Management on the Virtual Server Settings page. On the Manage Content Databases page, click the content database that you want to remove. On the Manage Content Database Settings page, note the following settings: The database server The database name The database capacity settings Click to select the Remove content database check box, and then click OK. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the content database, click OK. Click OK. On the Manage Content Databases page, click Add a content database. On the Add a Content Database page, specify the database server, the database name, and the database capacity settings. Then, click OK. Kind regards, Dusan Tomic
