Create a text file in this format: TESTPC1,,00:14:85:0F:0B:84 TESTP21,,00:14:85:0F:0B:85 save as a CSV In the SCCM consol navigate to Operating System Deployment, right click on Computer Association, select Import Computer Information to run the Wizard, check Import computer using a file, select your CSV file, Choose Target collection. Job done!

I totally understand that... What you want then , is to use a Custom media hook to run a script that places the computer in your Deployment collection from within WinPE, before running the TS. In that way all you have to worry about is how to name your computers... There are different ways to do this , and a lot of free solutions out there.. here is one http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/maikkoster/archive/2010/04/20/prettygoodfrontendclone.aspx. If you do not want to go trough the trouble of setting that up, you can just advertise the deployment TS to the unknown computer collection, and put in a script that sets OSDComputerName = Serial Number or something unlike like that. The you just enable unknown computer support on your Boot Image or PXE service point, and boot your new unknown machines Michael Petersen http://blog.coretech.dk/mip/

Why not just use unknown computer support that is part of R2?Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

as above, plenty of good suggestions, the unknown computers collection is the absolute easiest plus one more, the windows-noob.com Multipurpose frontend HTA, allows you to name the computer via a nice frontend and its easy to customise My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

thanks all for ur reply.... i tried to deploy the new machine through the unknown computer collection and i created a new machine in hyper-v without associating it with sccm....it doesnot not show in unknown collection and i advertised my task sequence to this unknown collection(just for a check) but the new machine is not able to located the boot image file....it's taking the ip address from DHCP and waiting for the WDS to respond...will the sccm discover this new machine automatically or i have to associate it and can i deploy any machine without associating it with SCCM... thanks.

You need to establish if it's a problem with PXE or a stale SCCM record in the database, can you see the task sequence if you boot from media? if not then you have to cleanse the record from SCCM because you will not see the task sequence if there is record in SCCM for your PC.
