extended web application cannot be edited by contributors, and only from one computer

Hello,

I have recently UN extended a web application that had been working correctly. I did this in order to change the host header.

After re extending using a new host header, the application / site collection can no longer be edited by contributors; Only the owner can edit, and even then, only from one specific computer.

Permissions seem to be set the same, structure and content are the same -

Any suggestions/thoughts?

Thanks,

what happens when you try to edit

add site to IE options >security > trusted sites

try same with different browser

Check same user on different machine

added to trusted sites - still same issue.

Tried with different browser - still same issue.

Same user, Different Machine - same issue.

Different User, same machine - can edit.

Browsers and Settings are the same on both machines.

Using url (http://sitename.domain/sites/intranet/pages/) works on only one machine.

Using Server Name (http://servername/sites/intranet/pages/) also works, but only on the same machine.

Cannot access the site using either path from the server itself (but CAN access Central Administration)

Thanks,

Troy

Seems some DNS, AAM or IIS issue

Can you please share Your ALternate access mapping details, with DNS and IIS host header details

Hi Troy,

As I understand, after extending web application with a new host header site collection cannot be edited by contributors in SharePoint 2013.

In general, the host header box is empty unless you want to configure two or more IIS web sites to use the port on the same server and DNS has been configured to point multiple server names to the same server.

The article below is about extending claims-based web applications in SharePoint 2013.

The article below is about update a web application URL and IIS bindings for SharePoint 2013. You could focus on how to re-extend a web application and additional steps for updating a web application URL and IIS bindings in the article.

Couple of questions, do you have IP address assigned.Do we have multiple IP address if no then you may want to remove it.

Why 2 nearly duplicate entries for intranet, remove 1.

remove servername entry as well. Here is what I expect

http://                      (blank)                                all           NO IP address

http://                      intranet.domain                    all           NO ip address
