I have installed SharePoint 2013 with Office Web Apps 2013 using http.

I only see one error on the WAC server. Error 8115

Are you doing attempting to create a new document with a System Account?

Have you set the WOPI zone:

Open a powershell window and run the following PS commands:

Get-SPWopiZone 

The result should return one of thees results:

1. Internal-https
2. internal-http
3. external-https
4. internal-http

next run:

Get-SPWOPIBinding

if the results don't match you then need to run:

Set-SPWOPIZone zone ENTER YOUR CHOSEN ZONE HERE

for example to set it to internal-http enter it as:

Set-SPWOPIZone zone internal-http

Get-SPWopiZone returns internal-http

Get-SPWOPIBinding returns internal-http for all applications.

Hi Frank,

I ran in to a very similar issue that was caused by me being a server admin on the SharePoint server from what I can tell this can cause the same issue as operating under a system account. If you have a test user setup try to log in as that user and check if they get the same issue as you're getting from your own account.

If the test user is returning a positive result then your issues are being caused by your account being a server admin account. If however the test account is returning the same results as your account then there is something bigger afoot.

No, I am not using TMG. Both machines are in the same domain and can be addressed directly.

Yes, when I type in http://webapps.mydomain.local/hosting/discovery I get this XML file. Looks identical to yours.

Also ran (Get-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig).AllowOAuthOverHttp and it came back with TRUE.

I did follow the Technet guides to set up the SharePoint and the Office Web Apps servers. Searched a lot of forums to see if anyone has the same problem, but cannot find anything on this particular error.

Are you using a TMG in your solution? If so maybe the TMG is stopping the redirection of your request. Add an entry in your hosts file of your WAC server that Point the URL directly to your SharePoint server.

No, not using TMG. Servers and clients are in the same range.

Still no luck.

But the error on the WAC is "unauthorized url". That means it can communicate with the SharePoint server.

Does it work when you test it from SharePoint server? Can your clients communicate with WAC server on port 80, 443? Is port 808, and 809 open between SharePoint and WAC servers? If you run IIS8 you also need to enable this feature:

Yes, I can telnet port 80 and 443 from the client. Both servers have the firewall completely disabled (it's for testing only at this stage) and servers have port 808 and 809 open. We run both servers on Windows 2008 R2 so we use IIS7.

Funny thing, when I look at the error on the WAC and put this url in the browser I have to supply the WAC with valid credentials. When I supply Administrator as user I get this error.

Did this. From the client tried to preview an existing Word document. Again I got the error. Looked up the ULS log for that particular moment.

I did not even use an allowed domain list as we are testing internally.

Checked Get-OfficeWebAppsHost and the list is empty.

Tried that, no luck. Problem still exists. Even tried a lot of things.

I am about to throw out the machines and start from scratch. Although that would be a pitty. Already spent a lot of hours on this configuration.

I have similar problem. If I create document in word and then save it to library, then I can edit it normally. But errors appears when I create document right in sharepoint. Have you tried?

Same Exact problem!  I have done everything correctly, and jumped through all the configuration hoops still get an error! 

I know OWA with SP1 has issues - Did not install that version and installed all the updates on the server. 
Joined to the domain perfect. 
hosting/discovery XML page - perfect
