enable-csuser 18 sec. normal or too long?

Hello!

I powershell script writer. I have task to write script for enable active directory user for Lync. And i have one question:

Our test enviroment:

  • 1 active directory DC
  • 1 lync server (frond-end and back-end in one, as i understand)
  • 1 sql server

Our  product enviroment:

  • 3 active directory DC
  • 3 front-end lync servers
  • 3 back-end lync servers
  • 2 edge lync servers

question: In our test enviroment cmdlet enable-csuser execution takes 8 seconds. In product enviroment enable-csuser execution takes 18-20 seconds.

It's normal that cmdlet enable-csuser execute slower in product, more complex, Lync infrastructe? Or some troubles with Lync?

That does seem quite long.  Mine typically take a couple of seconds.  On the back end it's updating AD attributes and writing information into the back end database.  I'd make sure the servers are built to Microsoft guidelines, that SQL's tuned properly for memory, that disk I/O isn't an issue, and that you can write quickly to the local DC.

Hi

Agree with Anthony Caragol to check your server spec and disk IO first. I would like to add a couple of points on top of Anthony's suggestions

Check your Domain's health using dcdiag

Check your AD replication is healthy and upto date

Check all DCs have no worrying issues in event viewer

Remediate any issues found

When you run Enable-CsUser, specify the -DomainController parameter and choose a DC that you can confirm is healthy.

thanks

Hi  м м,

If these servers are hosting in a Virtualization Platform, note that Lync Server performance on virtual topologies can vary greatly depending on the workloads being used, the number of users, and the host hardware.

Best regards,

Eric

Hi

Mark, Anthony, Eric thanks for answers! :) I'll check our AD and Lync infrastructure and post results here.
