Hi -
I have several discussion boards on one subsite that were migrated over from SP 2010. There have been no messages added to these discussion boards in years. Recently something must have triggered and caused several of the messages to be duplicated word for word by a different user (not the original poster of the message). Many of the users who had alerts set on this received 50+ email notifications.
The user whose name seems to have resurrected all of the discussion boards did mention that he had deleted the notifications from the synced 'SharePoint Lists' section in Outlook. He then moved everything back from Outlook's Deleted Items to the original folder. I wonder if this triggered the alerts?
This link is pretty close to the issue that we're seeing, except that we're using Outlook 365 and SharePoint 2013.

I haven't been able to find much in the logs that would help troubleshoot this. Has anyone seen something like this before?
