connection errors
Hi I have a source database which is on a server thats on a different netwrok, the traget is on a server which is on our network. I opened BIDS new project, named the project but when i tried to connect to the SOURCE database i'm getting the error saying that the default sqlserver settings is not letting me to access the source data base. Any suggestions please? I tried SQL Server surface are configuration and i'm getting the following error: No sql server 2005 components were found on the specified computer. either no components are installed, or you are not an admin on this computer. Please need help. Thanks

Sounds like there is no running instance of SQL 2005 on the server you are trying to connect toChuck

One possibility - try looking at your local SQL Client configuration and turn named pipes off - tcp ip on Chuck

can you please tell me how to do that. i went to start programs, sql server config tools and under that all i can see is "surface area configuration". Thanks
