configuring search applications with web apps on https - SharePoint 2013 (http return results but not https)

Hi All,
I have configured ssl for a web app.
Its also configured in IIS with the right binding.

I have done a full crawl and i can see the sites are crawled on http does https also need to be crawled for it to work

The problem though is when i do a search for example on https://xxx.com it gets directed to
https://xxx..com/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/_layouts/15/osssearchresults.aspx?u=https%3A%2F%2Fxxx.com&k=test

Which is ok but no result is returned.
But when i change the url to http like below
http://xxx..com/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/_layouts/15/osssearchresults.aspx?u=http%3A%2F%2Fxxx.com&k=test

I do get some results :)

Cheers and Thanks in Advance

Hi,

If you want the crawler to crawl a site even if there is an SSL certificate warning, make sure that the "Ignore SSL certificate name warnings" check box is selected. By Default it is cleared.

Hope this helps :)

If you have configured SSL for web app, you should be crawling it with https, not http. Also you should check if the AAMs bindings are configured correctly for respective web app.

Hope this helps.

Mohit thanks for the reply.
In the Content Source  I have both http and https set to crawl in the start address.
Is this wrong?
Also the AAM bindings are all good for all the apps.

Any more ideas what i should be looking at

Remove start address with http and run a full crawl although it wont resolve your issue. This would only result in correct configuration. Can you also post a dummy replica of your current AAM settings?
