configuring DTS for Windows Server 2008 R2 and SSIS
I was wondering if there are any special nuances for getting SSIS to work with dts, or is this simple just a matter of configuring the distributed transactions role in the add role wizard ?

I am not sure what you trying to do exactly? if you want to run SSIS packages, you need SSIS to be installed (note that you do not need to install database engine of sql server 2008/2005 you just need to select integration services from sql server installation media) if you mean that you want to run DTS packages from SSIS package, yes you can in SSIS 2005/2008/2008R2, but you cannot do it in SSIS 2012.http://www.rad.pasfu.com

I think what he means is DTC (distributed transaction co-ordinator) and not DTS :). If I have understood you correctly, check this where the author gives a nice walkthrough (with images) on how to get SSIS working with DTC.http://btsbee.wordpress.com/
