config timer job missing for 2nd WFE
Hi, We have a simple WSS 3.0 SP2 farm (on Windows Server 2008) with a seperate SQL server and 1 WFE, "Server01" no load balancing has been configured. This server developed a hardware fault and was taken out of commission and a new server Server02 built and added into the farm. Everything seemed to work as expected. Some days later the original server Server01 was brought back to life. Server02 was now live and serving public content. The decision was made to bring Server01 back into the farm (including its Central Admin) and have it as a backup server and take internal network traffic. This seemed to work without any implications. Following this setup we have deployed a SharePoint solution that uses config changes and a gac'able dll. What surprised us is that we don't get synchronisation across the IIS applications, in short to get the solution installed on Server02 we used Stsadm and syncsolution. On Server02 we have one possible problem to solve. I don't see a Config Refresh job registered, it says its only running on Server01. Having looked around I only seem to have a "repair wss install in programs and features", then run psconfig. We also created a new SharePoint test application to see if it was ok, it created the IIS App on Server01 but NOT on Server02. Again I can only think that the timer jobs are not getting picked up and run against Server02? I can't find any useful explanation discussing how the farm keeps IIS Apps in sync, so I don't know what to test or diagnose. Is there any way to health check and repair the config refresh or refresh Server02 in the farm? Any help would be appreciated thanks! Anthony

Please Check that Windows Sharepoint Services Web application service is running on Both the servers in central Administration ("services on server"). Please start the service incase it is not started on any of the server. Thanks! I LOVE MS..... Thanks and Regards, Kshitiz (Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.)

Hi, on the Server01 (the original and one with the "Config Refresh" timer job) its setup and running like this "Windows SharePoint Services Administration - Started - Automatic - Local System" (and I think I saw an error saying it could not contact SQL...... On the live site Server02 which does not seem to have a Config Refresh timer job, is setup and running like this... "Windows SharePoint Services Administration - Started - Automatic - spfarmaccount@ourdomain.com Thanks Anthony
