command line backup via the stsadm gui
i'm using the stsadm gui to generate the command line for performing a scheduled backup... this is the output:""C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN\STSADM.exe" -o backup -url "\\servername\sharepoint$" -filename "sitebackup" -overwrite "but when i submit/run this i get the following error:Missing Required Argument URLdoes aynone know what this refers?the URL of the shared location is okay and permissions are fine

The URL has to be the site collection URL that you are trying to backup. It seems you have put the location where you want to keep the backup file in the URL filed. the Path should be part of filename path. the command should look like: ""C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN\STSADM.exe" -o backup -url "http://SharepointPortal/sites/sitecollection" -filename "\\servername\sharepoint$\ sitebackup" -overwrite " Hope this helps!I LOVE MS.....
