cannot map the lookup column, 'ColumnName', because the column is set to a floating data type in ssis
Hi,
I am getting an error like "cannot map the lookup column, '', because the column is set to a floating data type in ssis . I knew we can not map float data types into "Data Flow Destination" as the following columns are reference i red in MSDN
in the following link.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141821.aspx
The transformation supports join columns with any data type, except for DT_R4, DT_R8, DT_TEXT, DT_NTEXT, or DT_IMAGE
Please help me to resolve this problem , is there is any way to do this. How can i map the float column into "Data Flow Destination"?

The help link you quoted si for the lookup, and as noted states that float is not supported, so not sure why you mention the data flow destination.
The only option is to convert the data into a type that is comparable. Try changing the reference data set query in the lookup, perhaps just adding CAST - SELECT CAST(ColumnName
AS numeric(10,6)) FROM LookupTable 0- Choose yoru cast type to match your data
You could do similar in a source for the input data, or use a Derived Column to create a new column of matching type.
Because of the imprecise nature of float types, you need to think carefully about how this could impact your process.http://www.sqlis.com | http://www.konesans.com
