I am having the same problem. We can see the sharepoint site through VPN, but the site is not fully functional. We are getting the following errors: Webpage error details Message: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load. Message: 'Sys' is undefined Message: 'Sys' is undefined Message: 'Type' is undefined Message: Object doesn't support this property or method

I have the same. I get the 401 error from Share Point 3.0 after login: Not Authorized HTTP Error 401. The requested resource requires user authentication. SOLVED!!! In my case it was firewall - I needed to create the rule for forwarding port of SP (80) from all intefaces to SP address and port 80.

Just to add a twist to this thread (I'm having 'same' issue). Win XP SP3, IE 7 (company owned, I cannot upgrade) Sharepoint 2010 running intranet sites internally. I can connect through VPN with no issues when I am at home, Starbucks, etc., but I am staying with a friend that works for the same company for a few weeks. I can access the internal network through VPN, email is fine, Sharepoint sites come up sometimes (mostly not) but cannot be worked on (timeout errors) with IE. She is having the same problems on her co. owned laptop as well. Any external sites come up, slowly. This led me to believe it was an ISP issue though they deny they block or restrict any ports. Company IT is clueless and blames it on ISP, ISP blames it on company. Hope this helps with the conversation.

I'm using SharePoint 2010 and i have a similar problem. If I am NOT connected to my VPN I cannot connect to the site using the public URL. If I connect to my VPN and use the public URL (the DNS name and IP address for the public URL are an A Record in my DNS internally) I connect wiout an issue. I can then disconnect from the VPN and I have no issues. Any ideas? Thanks,
