hello, i want to ask another question. i have installed wss 3.0 as standallone on my machine. and the machine does not have active directory. my question is. can i install active directory now with the wss 3.0 already installed? is this possible without i loose my web applications?

Hi, Actually Activity Directory depends on your definition of a farm. A farm can also consist of a single server and in that case you can run WSS 3.0 without AD (i.e. as a workgroup) and use local server users for authorization. But you're right otherwise Best regards, David HM

But you're right otherwise hi David, thank you for replying back Sorry for my english, but you mean by this that i can? i have develop my wss 3.0 site on a test machine that does not have AD. so i can restore my site on a client machine with or without AD you saying?

Better way to prepare an environment is to deploy the Active directory first and then the remaining components(IIS,ASP.NET,SQL,WSS,etc). After installing SharePoint/WSS deploying Active directory will not go smooth. You might need to re-install WSS again.
