can't access from internet - intranet is working
I have tried many times to establish a working SharePoint site on our SBS2007 server, Windows Server Standard FE w SP2. In previous attempts things go well untill I use the data move wizard to move the SharePoint site data from our tiny (80G) C: drive. After going through the instructions "Repair Windows SharePoint Services (3/11/2009) I managed to get the site working from our intranet. I have yet to try the data move wizard. I need help getting the internet site going. From http://corp.cictech.net I can access the Remote Web Workplace. All is working except the Internal Web Site from the internet. I get can not display the web page. Do I need some ports forwarded in my router? Or, is there a security setting I need to modify? Running the SBS BPA tool, I have this issue: There are no DNS name server (NS) resource records with SGC.corp.cictech.net for the _msdcs delegation in the forware look up zone corp.cictech.net nslookup for sgc and companyweb both fail. In DNS Manager - Forward Lookup Zones I have: _msdcs.corp.cictech.net cictech.net.dev corp.cictech.net I can access the SharePoint admin site only from the server. After I get these issues behind me, I still have the data move wizard to run. That is where I expect big problems. Most of the wizards crash part way through. I can not even get reports to run. Auto backup is intermittant. It will complete normally from back up now. The scheduled backup sometimes works. Thanks in advance, Kurt

Hi Kurt, SBS by default configures the Intranet Sites to https://remote.domain.com:987 ensure that a site listening to port HTTPS 987 exists. Secondly you need to open this port on your firewall. You should a DNS record for http://companyweb on local DNS which points to the SBS server and remote.domain.com also pointing to SBS server both internally and externally. This is what i could suggest with the information I have about, but yes it involves many other things aswell for accessing SharePoint via Remote Workplace.Cheers! Dilip

Thanks! I associated the site with the server IP and all is well. The previous IP was * - the new IP is specific not generic. I also added the port forwarding, which was done first. My next hurdle is to move the sharePoint data to the large drive, which has failed on previous attempts. At least now I have a solid working baseline in the event the wizard fails again. Kurt
