best practices in creating new sql database for sharepoint ( web application or site collection ) - host infopath web browser forms
Hi We have been using sharepoint for more than a year now,but all sit on 1 webapplication and all sites created belong to just one database. However, we have been creating a number of sharepoint application on our sharepoint and we want to host on a new database. The application will consist of infopath browser forms. We do not have a form server yet, we will still be using the current environment ( 1 MOSS server and 1 sql server ). Only 1 form template will be hosted in the site. Question : Should i create a new web application with a new database to host this new site or should I create a new site collection on the same web application but use a new database for it.

Hi cally_kalpana, To my knowledge, both these two methods are feasible. But, since a web application needs to have at least 1 site collection, and you cannot backup a web application from within SharePoint. If I was you, I prefer to create a new site collection on the same web application but use a new database for it. It seems that this way is more simple. Thanks & Regards, Peng Lei
