back loading reports
Hi, I recently got SSRS 2008 installed. What I would like to do now is build out the reports, then go back and run the reports for the last couple of years to get a feel for the trends (before I implement SSAS as phase 2). The way my data is structured is that I get a relational database "snapshot" on a monthly basis (i.e. last day of each month). So, say I want to get the total customer count as a report at the end of each month. I build the report and deploy it. Then, I load up the data for one month (e.g. Jan 31, 2009) run the report, create a snapshot. Then I load Feb 28, 2009 run the report and create the snapshot. The issue I find is that 1) I have to start as far back as I might want to have the snapshots in chronological order 2) the snapshot will all be Jan 26, 2011 at various times of the day, so if someone has to access a report for a specific month, they will have to go through each report until they find it. Also, in the report itself, I guess I would have to use some derivation of the database date to signify what month the report is actually for. In other words, that is how I would get different "titles" for the report? Am I correct in my assumptions as to how this all works? Thanks, Ivan
