as system discover question
We turned on AD system discovery and pointed it at the root of our domain. We then installed the SCCM client to all workstations. Of course one manager had to complain that his machines got the SCCM client but he did not pull the trigger. So we had to uninstall the client on about 1,000 machines (only to reinstall it later when this manager gives the word. Can you say control freak?). We also Deleted the AD system discovery that looked at the Root and we added sub-searches. So our AD system discovery now looks at Root\Computers\Custom Containers\etc......plus a few other sub-locations. Suddenly there is a ton of warnings under Site Status\Component Status that point to the sms_def.mof file has the wrong information. By doing what we did with the AD system discovery did we screw anything un in our environemnt? mqh7

AD system discovery has nothing to do with sms_def.mof / hardware inventory. It would be more than helpful if you provided a detailed error message.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Hi, I understand what you want, you use AD system discovery to discover all computers in the domain. And push clients to all the workstations that ever discovered. But for some reason some of them should be pushed later with the manager's permission. So you want to uninstall these computers' clients. To do this, command: ccmsetup.exe /uninstall can be used to uninstall these clients. AD system discovery just discover the computers out with the LDAP specified for AD. So you should not delete it's original discovery setting. You can use AD system group discovery to discover all the computer OU/Group related information for the other discovery methods discovered computers. Then create a new collection query like this: select * from SMS_R_System where SMS_R_System.SystemOUName = "<OU name>" Then disable the auto client push and push client to all the computers in the upon created collection. For the error in the system status, you should specify more information then we can help you troubleshooting. Hope this will help. Thanks
