app controller console crashes

Hi,

I am testing App Controller 2012 and from time to time the IE crashes (app controller console). I tried to find out if there is a trigger point but couldn't find one.

The only error message I see in Event Viewer is:Event ID: 1000 Source: Application Error. It seems like there is a problem with Silverlight because its says "Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Silverlight\XXXX\npctrl.dll. So some controll DLL causes this but that doesn't really tell me anyhting.

Now I am not sure if this is related because the console crashed 5 times while I was testing and 4 times I found an Audit failure for the user whose console crashed at the same time. So I am not sure if this is related because for the first crash - there is no corresponding Audit failure. But for the rest I see an audit failure for the given user for process: Internet Explorer and Service Request Information: SeCreateGlobalPrivilege

As said I am testing AppController right now so I have 1 SCVMM 2012 runing and have 3 App Controller installed on different systems. Each AppController is connected to the 1 SCVMM Mgt. Server. I opened two consoles on each of the app controller using different users (beside one user who is in Admin roll group and in "user" group). Do you have suggestions what I could do to find the reason for those crashes?

Hi sroe,

Please let me know which versions of the following you are using when experiencing the crash:

  • App Controller [2012, 2012 with update rollup 1, 2012 with update rollup 2, SP1]
  • Internet Explorer [9, 10]
  • Windows [Vista, 7, 8]
  • Silverlight [4, 5]

Is there a particular screen you're on in App Controller when the crash occurs? (e.g. Services, Virtual Machines, Overview)

Kind Regards,

Richard

sorry for the delayed answer - it is appcontroller 2012 with update rollup 1; IE 9; Windows 7; Silverlight 4 (i think - cannot check right now).

No that is what I tried to find out myself. But I could not re-create the condition when it crashed. It did so while I performed different tasks (once rolling out a VM, once just checking on VM).
