Have an internal SP 2007 site (http://mylongservername:14550) that I'd like users to be able to access using a friendlier name. I setup an Alternate Access Mapping for Internal URLs using http://sptest and the Default zone. I then created an A Record using the ip address of the server. The problem is that when i use the new url: http://sptest i get redirected to the default site on the server, which not the sp site i want to go to. It seems to me i need to specify the port somewhere to make this work, but i don't know where to do that. Anyone know how to do this?
