Hi,    We are having troubles pushing clients to machines in a specific domain.    It looks like the agents install ok but they dont communicate to the management point.  The domain the mp is in is trusted with the domain I am trying to push clients to.

I also tried to run the client manually on the machine like this.

ccmsetup SMSSITECODE=P01 SMSSLP=PROD-CONFMGR.DOMAIN.local /mp:PROD-CONFMGR.DOMAIN.local  but that does help them to start communicating.

I know we have a certificate but I am not sure if I need to specify that with the ccmsetup command.

i did a ccmeval and here are parts of the log results.    Any ideas on what I am doing wrong or how I can get these agents communicating with the MP?

Thanks Phillipe and Gerry,   I did not find all the log files you are referring to in the ccmsetup directory but in the ccm directory.

The only log file of the 3 above that had any error is the ClientIDManagerStartup.log file.   Here is a snippet of that log and the ccmeval log file.

Hi Guys,

This was initially setup by a microsoft consultant who is no longer working with our company and I have inherited the entire System Center set of products.

I see a certificate defined in the configuration manager security certificate area.  Is this the certificate that should be on all the devices?

Also Jason, what do you mean clients approved?  The devices have all been added to CM and show up with no client installed.  I have tried to push out the client from config manager to no avail.  I have tried running the client setup manually as follows but it doesnt seem to work either. 

cccmsetup SMSSITECODE=P01 SMSSLP=PROD-CONFMGR.DOMAIN.local /mp:PROD-CONFMGR.DOMAIN.local

It seems like the client installs fine but just doesnt register with Config Manager.    Not sure what to do.  Any suggestions woud be appreciated.

Thanks Jason,   That was really helpful.  I am still not able to see my device with the client showing Yes (installed and communicating) in the config mgr console.    I change my ccmsetup command to the following.

ccmsetup /mp:PROD-CONFMGR /UsePKICert CCMHOSTNAME="PROD-CONFMGR.DOMAIN.local" SMSSITECODE=P01 CCMHTTPPORT=80 CCMHTTPSPORT=443

Reviewing the ccmsetup.log and client.msi.log I dont see anything that standouts as being troublesome.  I am attaching these to some extent to this thread.  Sorry for all the info.

I am able to telnet to the MP server on the 3 different client ports so ports are open.  The domain of the MP and device (needing the client) are different but they are trusted.  So far OLH machines are the only ones to have the client installed on devices and communicating properly with MP.

sorry for the long post again. 

A couple final pieces of info....

Is there a client debugger tool that talks with the MP from the client and gives more info?  I just cant see anything that gives me any ideas in the current logs.

If anybody has some additional suggestions please let us know.   We have been chasing this down for a week now with not much success.

One other thing we tried was to delete the SMS certificates and the ini file in the windows folder and restart ccmexec.

ccmsetup /mp:PROD-CONFIGMGR /UsePKICert CCMHOSTNAME="PROD-CONFIGMGR.DOMAIN.local" SMSSITECODE=P01 CCMHTTPPORT=80 CCMHTTPSPORT=443

We also tried to copy the sms certs that seemed to be coming from Config Manager Client install process over to the personal cert store which seemed to be used during certificate validation.   

None of these made a difference.
