Your simplest option would be to go with Group Management through the portal. I want to know that how can we add a single user to multiple group using rules extension. you can't manipulate reference attributes inside the rules extension code thus you can't add a user to a group. you have 2 options: use a separate sql table for group membership calculation or use the FIM portal.
